God’s Undivided Heart

When it comes to you, God has a totally undivided heart. Many of us sadly grew up in a religious system that perpetuates the idea that God is bi-polar, that He loves us, but He’s also angry with us, that God looks at our behavior and if it’s not good, then He turns away from us, that God sits in a swivel chair.

If you are hearing stuff like that, you need to know that’s a religious spirit that’s talking to you and not God. One of the biggest problems in the church is false doctrine and a misrepresentation of God’s character and nature. There’s a door open in Heaven-His name is Jesus, which means heaven is always accessible to you. There is no obstacle in your way to Jesus. The stone (Old Covenant Law) has been rolled away. Like Lazarus, we are free to come to Jesus and to be loosed from the grave clothes of religion.

Once you are born again, it is impossible for the Father to see you disconnected from Him, your connection to God is not dependent upon your performance. You are now in a habitational culture. What do I mean? The Old Covenant was a visitational culture. God could come upon people, but then would depart from them. This is why David prayed, “Lord, do not take your Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:11). That prayer was appropriate for David in a visitational culture, but it is inappropriate for us today in the habitational culture of Grace. God has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

We now have become the “dwelling place of God in the Spirit” (Eph. 2:22). God did not come to visit, He came to stay. God’s not your cousin, HE’S your husband! He doesn’t have His suitcase packed up by the door just waiting on us to mess up so He can leave. God doesn’t pout when we sin and give us the silent treatment. He does not punish us or beat us when we sin, in fact, He kisses us when we mess up (Luke 15:20). Why would He kiss us? Because it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance.

How do you seek a God who never leaves you? Differently for sure. We now seek Him with expectation for good in our hearts. Habitational culture changes the way we pray. In the visitational you prayed toward God, now we pray with God. In the Old you prayed from earth toward heaven, now we pray from heaven toward earth. We are now seated with Christ in heavenly places. We see things differently now because old things have passed away. We are not “trying to get a prayer through”. No longer are we trying to get God to “rend the heavens and come down”.

Christ is not just with you or for you, but Christ is IN YOU! That is your hope of Glory (Col. 1:27). Start talking like Christ is in you. God placed you in Christ when you believed and trusted in Him. He placed in Christ so He could treat you like Jesus. Why would you ever feel distant from Him? You’re in Christ and Christ is in you. Don’t try to understand it, just believe it.

  1. I believe it Pastor. I am speaking differently than I ever have before, because of your teachings. Jesus lives in me, and I know God is not now or never will be mad at me. He loves me. That changes how you think and believe about God and yourself. Thank you for continually preaching this important message to Christians. So many are still in that religious spirit, and your teachings will change that for many people. Thank you for the good word, Pastor.
