Does Jesus “Reapply” His Blood Every Time I Sin?

I have heard this preached many times, “when you sin and confess your sin, Jesus reapplies His blood to your sin”.  The Bible never speaks of Jesus reapplying the blood.  According to the Bible, this was done once for all.  Once!  Not every time we confess or repent, not daily, not weekly, but once:

 Romans 6:10 (NKJV)
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

This should not be difficult for us to understand, for we all know that Jesus only died once.  Every sin you have committed was paid for on the cross two-thousand years ago.  Before you were born, Jesus had already taken away the sin (not sins) of the world.  Every one of your sins were in the future when Jesus died on the cross. God knows the end from the beginning and He knew all the sins of the whole world. Jesus paid for all those committed before His sacrifice and for all that had not yet been committed. He made the payment once and it will never be made again. The price for sin, all sin, has been paid!

Jesus died for sin (singular), not sins (plural).  Him who knew no sin became sin (2 Cor. 5:21).  He did not become sins.  Sin is a noun, not a verb in these passages. Click on this link for more: https://dellyoung.net/2017/04/03/sin-is-a-noun-grace-is-a-verb/

Hebrews 7:27 (NKJV)
who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

Notice the words “once for all”. This means He doesn’t do it over and over again every time you sin. We see these words again in Hebrews 9:12 where we are told Jesus entered the Most Holy Place with His own blood once for all. It is a completed work. Christ applied His blood for sin – all sin – once for all. We have three passages in the Bible that state Jesus did this once for all, so why do some claim that Jesus does what the Bible says He only did once? Those in Christ are now under the redemption of His one time application of His blood. There are no subsequent applications of His blood. To suggest that Jesus’ blood needs to be reapplied each time we sin is a denial of the finished work of Christ. It is saying that Jesus’ one time application of His blood was insufficient to take away the sin of the world. It is saying that something must be done a second time to deal with our sin.

Hebrews 10:10-12, 14 says,

“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified”.

The gospel of grace is underwritten by the most precious commodity in the universe – the one time application of the blood of Jesus. Sin is no longer merely covered up by the sacrifice of animals. It has been removed! Jesus’ blood has paid your sin-debt in full. Even when you stumble and make mistakes you still belong to Jesus. The devil has absolutely no claim on you. When he reminds you of your shortcomings, remind him of the perfect blood that redeemed you and purchased your perpetual and everlasting freedom.
