God Does Not “Un-Child” His Children

If you have been born again you can’t be unborn.  Every Christian who believes they can lose their salvation will always give you a reason that involves them.  They say, “What if I do this sin or what if I do that?”  What if I…?  You fill in the blank there, but it’s all the same.  Every hypothetical scenario puts us at the center of the equation.  But our faithfulness to God is an old-covenant problem that is solved by the new-covenant and the cross of Christ.

John 10:28-29 (NKJV)

28  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.  29  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

If I can have eternal life today and not have it tomorrow, then how is it eternal life?  Eternal life is mentioned 68 times in NKJV of the Bible.  Is it possible to lose the gift of salvation?  Some preachers say yes.  They believe your salvation is temporary, or on loan to you.  But that’s not what the Bible says.  If you are saved now, you are saved eternally.  Jesus doesn’t do partial salvations or temporary salvations or trial salvations.  He only authors eternal salvations.  Your eternal salvation is forever and everlasting. Because Jesus’ blood obtained an eternal redemption (Heb 9:12), you have an eternal inheritance (Heb 9:15), guaranteed by an eternal covenant (Heb 13:20), resulting in eternal life (John 3:16) and a welcome into the eternal kingdom (2 Pet 1:11) by the eternal God (Rom 16:26).  Which is why the eternal gospel (Rev 14:6) gives us eternal comfort (2 Thess 2:16).  Are you starting to see it?

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24)

Notice Jesus’ words, “has eternal life”, not will have some day.  Jesus tells us two important things:  #1. New life is not something you experience in the sweet by and by, but something to enjoy today.  #2. If you believe, you will never be condemned.  You are one Spirit with the Lord you simply cannot lose your salvation.  I’ve been asked, “But what if I stop believing?”  You will no longer enjoy eternal life, but you won’t lose eternal life.

I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)

Your salvation is not something to wonder or worry about.  The Apostle John writes this because he wants you to know that you have eternal life.  I want you to know with certainty that, in Christ, your future is secure.  Below are seven promises about your future:

For a Christian to lose their salvation…

1. God would have to forsake us, when he said he wouldn’t (Heb 13:5)

2. God would have to cast us out, when he said he wouldn’t (John 6:37)

3. God would have to condemn us, when he said he wouldn’t (Rom 8:1,34)

4. God would have to withdraw his Spirit, when he said he wouldn’t (John 14:16-17)

5. God would have to remember our sins, when he said he wouldn’t (Jer 31:34, Heb 10:17)

6. God would have to forget that we are his children, when he said he wouldn’t (Is 49:15)

7. God would have to blot our names out of the book of life, when he said he wouldn’t (Rev 3:5)

Anything and everything that needed to be done by Jesus has been done.  He said from the cross, “It is finished”.  Trust him!  The one who “began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Php 1:6).  Salvation is not from yourself it is the gift of God (Eph 2:8), and his gifts are irrevocable (Rom 11:29).

  1. So greatly explained everyone should understand. The scriptures are plain. Thank you for delivering that message so all will understand that we are always God’s and he will not cast us away. And that is because of Jesus alone. Thanks Pastor Dell.

  2. Great Word Pastor!! Coming from a background that taught differently than this word, takes a while to undo what has been programmed for so long. So many people need to hear this message and understand that GOD LOVES THEM!! Not because of what you do, but because we are His children. Either Christ made a way, or He didn’t!! The only thing that is accounted to us, is to believe or not believe. I choice to believe that Christ made the way!! Thank God my salvation is not credited on my actions, but in faith alone in my acceptance of who He is!! Thank you Pastor for helping me understand my Father better and better!!

  3. Dell that was a really good message that wish all Christians and un-Christians could hear!
Thank God we are not saved through our own works, but through God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2: 8&9. NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.
If someone thinks they can lose their salvation than they are depending on their own works to save them or keep them saved. For if they think they were saved and later they could lose salvation after doing bad works. Than they are no longer believing they are saved through faith alone…. as if God needs their help to stay saved. Which wouldn’t make any sense at all! You are either saved through faith totally or you are not saved at all. God said He did it all! Not I’ll do my half and you’ll have to do the rest. No where in the Bible does it say this.
Ephesians 2: 8&9 is probably one of my favorite verses cause it lays it all out there. It flat out tells you; you are saved by GRACE… NOT you are saved through your good works! Verse 9 NOT OF WORKS lest any man should boast. You can’t get any clearer than that!
God bless you Dell and your family! Love y’all!
